It’s an old one, Hariod….I’ve always liked it. Puzzled over it too. I was glad to have a place for it in this series.
Like an exorcism …. or a benediction
The above comment was my warped idea of a compliment Jana; as time spent with a work tends to indicate something’s happened – a feeling, a question that doesn’t seek an answer, or something – I didn’t puzzle over your painting, seeking meaning or symbolic representation. When I can afford to, I buy abstract oil paintings and know well not to try and ‘work them out’; though of course, the mind sometimes naively seeks out patterns – best ignored with art perhaps? So, who’s the T-shirted demon in the box? 😉
Your comment cracks me up….the demon? It’d just a friend I worked with. Wounded by the circumstances in his life. I wanted to draw him to remember him. But the demon is, you know …. it’s the box.
I stared at this work for a good while.
